Poorly maintained tyres can cost you a lot of money! Consequences of having under inflated tyres increase fuel consumption and allows your tyres to wear much quicker as well as often wearing components in the wheel structure.
The best way to avoid this is to adhere to the following guidelines so that your tyres can perform longer and better on the road especially now with the increase in fuel prices.
Maintenance Tips:- Here is an easy 5 point check for your tyres:
1. Check tyre tread depth.
2. Check correct tyre pressure.
3. Ensure there is no irregular wear e.g. wheel alignment.
4. Always remember to check overall condition of tyres, including inner and outer sidewalls.
5. Check that your spare tyre is safe and ready to use incase of any emergency.
Tyre Pressures
A tyre may not always look flat to be under inflated. To be safe you should check the tyre pressures at least every fourteen days. Please refer to owners manual for correct tyre pressure. Ideally tyre pressures should only be checked when your tyres are cold. Incorrect tyre pressures will alter the handling of your vehicle and increase tyre wear.
